When cutting long boards, it's often easier to move the tool than it is to move the board. That's one of the nice features of a compound miter saw—it lets you move the saw head without moving the board. The other nice feature of a compound miter saw is that you can cut unusual angles (such as when cutting crown molding corners) without having to hold the molding up against the saw fence. |

This saw's motor is strong, and it has a nice fence and table. If you can justify the expense of a good compound sliding miter saw, then go for it. Otherwise, this is a fine tool that can handle most jobs. |
